It used to work fine without the power and I ran everything I owned throught it. If so, did the little geek guy tell you to move it to the other position when you added the external power source? If he didn't then fire him too!<BR/><BR/>If you are using the USB hub to simultaneously connect more than one device to your computer, there's a good chance that you need the external power source. But, if only powering one device, then you should be ok without the power adapter.
