The big paddle may be more efficient, but the body might do better with smaller more frequent repititions. As for the shoulders, it was a euphimism for the perception of effort. thanks guys.Silbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12561606347525787459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25407346.post-76634080537051044102010-06-09T21:54:34.605-05:002010-06-09T21:54:34.605-05:00I agree with John B, if your rotating your shoulde...I agree with John B, if your rotating your shoulders are doing very little. What that article was saying does make sense, but my experience tells me I like paddling with a light paddle, with a smaller blade more than a bigger blade. It just feels like less work.

Like so many things, the science may not agree with the feel.

But it is interesting, thanks for posting it. It will definitely generate some thought.

POAdventure Otakuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12215628711923335166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25407346.post-44768196048143066982010-06-09T18:52:25.211-05:002010-06-09T18:52:25.211-05:00But Doug Van Doren's paddle is 4 inches wide.....But Doug Van Doren's paddle is 4 inches wide.....so he is using a large Greenland paddle.(or a wide one)

I'm going to finish a 3 7/8 inch wide 86 inch paddle I have had in the works...then see.

I always liked my euro blades big.

this paddle feels very promising.RoyMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05619493290584032915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25407346.post-87666051533987438392010-06-09T08:13:03.179-05:002010-06-09T08:13:03.179-05:00With proper torso rotation your shoulders shouldn&...With proper torso rotation your shoulders shouldn't complain at all.JohnBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02817579608559685596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25407346.post-84102745407443725322010-06-09T07:35:18.381-05:002010-06-09T07:35:18.381-05:00Hmmmmm. With weights I'd always heard that light weights & repetition built muscle tone and stamina while heavy weights with minimal reps built strength. It will be interesting to see the comments.DaveOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00552131869044539704noreply@blogger.com
