A Classic/Typical Weather "Forecast"
(Never trust a specialist." My chief of medicine when I was a resident.

For a few days the weekend was predicted to have thunderstorms, thunderstorms, thunderstorms. They were supposed to start after 4 pm yesterday and in the afternoon today. High probabilities were "predicted'.

I paddled in a pleasant rain yesterday before the sun came out. Today's "updated" "forecast" is for storms late this afternoon. "20% chance." I believe the weather bureau is in Las Vegas.

Paddle safe...

They must use the same weather bureau in Sweden. :)

That's wonderful, Peter. I laughed out loud when I read it.

With a 20% chance of X there's an 80% chance of NOT X. A math problem that I can even understand and appreciate.

Yes, and they were more certain of bad weather than that. Why harp on the 20% anyway? Why not, "Slight chance of...?" Sailors and paddlers miss too many of the precious few days we have because of these "forecasts." At the end of the day, we would be fine without them save for when severe weather is possible.
