Could it be?
The old state of Wisconsin may actually be using some of that tax money wisely. There is an active stewardship movement here to keep as much land and as much water access open to the public. In fact, Rutabaga, who sponsors the upcoming (you can still register) Door County Sea Kayak Symposium, donates some of the symposium proceeds to just such a cause. Cheers.

There was actually a movement from a few years back to form the state of Superior from da Yoopee and norhtern Wi. A couple southern states liked the plan because then they wouldn't be last in most categories but it kind of died out. MN also bought a large parcel on Lake Vermillion. We just don't seem to know how to proceed with things, a common problem here in The State Where Nothing is Allowed.
