It May Not Be Winter,
But We're Getting There
Bring out the warm, but funny looking, clothes. Temperatures around here are freezing, and one must dress properly. Yesterday, with a gusting onshore ENE wind, we put on the long underwear, fleece tops, dry suits and all sorts of gloves and footwear. Because we were going to play in waves in shallow water, most wore brain buckets.
(Doug's paddle digs into the muck as he launches)
Four of us ended up going out. It seems that the "seasonal" paddlers have lready gone into hibernation. Besides, the day was not suitable for the less experienced paddlers.

(Greg in the strip kayak he made)

It's tough to surf these short irregular waves, but fun to paddle parallel to them and practice bracing.

Only downside was that the onshore action left the shore mucky and weedy...as were we at the end.

Paddle safe...

The snow came after the paddle, and the icebergs will soon arrive.

Steve, I sent the best pic of his kayak to Greg and asked that he blog on it.
