What Next?

"Everybody" is paddling somewhere and writing about it. New Circumnavigations and crossings. Wendy is paddling from pizza place to pizza place. Freya is headed to New Zealand. Derrick went around Puerto Rico. In a way (this is one of those stretches that can lead to a headache...but I digress), they all paddle in the same place. Now work with me on this.

We all know that water is H2O. What you might not know is that because of electrons circling the nuclei of molecules and the limited number of electrons necessary to fill various orbit levels (shells) all the molecules in a body of water share electrons. That is, an electron may orbit one nucleus, then shift into an orbit around another and, eventually, be on the other side of the ocean. This syncitium formations means that all the connected seas and oceans of the planet are one enormous molecule. Hence, all these expeditions have been in the same puddle.

This all, in turn, raises the question of where one would have to paddle to truly be the first there. (Do I hear Jackie Gleason?). To the moon, Alice.

I, personally, am happy with day paddling from a base camp, but I must admit that lately I have been getting a little of the wander lust. No, I am not about to paddle counter clockwise around Antarctica. I am not that ambitious or foolish. Well, not that ambitious. But I would consider a shorter, nearer trip done is small intervals and a slow pace. JB, you reading this?

Paddle safe...

Hmmmmmmm . . .

So many places to paddle, so little time--I've used all of my vacation time for 2007, but 2008 is just around the corner!

Time to plan...carefully. Capt'n, I am not sure what the "boy" referrence is. I was thinking of bigger water, although I have never really sat with the idea of a river trip. Is that a banjo I hear?

Could be a possible Superior trip involving a Mpls contingent. Keep us Gophers in mind. Nothing wrong with the Keweenaw in the spring......

I'll consider it if I get to paddle Alex's Nordkapp LV...with an option to buy...at wholesale :)

You the "man" ... me the "boy"...

I'm just a shallow water paddle/sailor in corn and cow country.

No banjo - but those fiddles are scary just the same!!

paddle paddle,
