New Seat
Just got one of those soft seats from CLC and plan to use it in my Arctic Tern, a CLC kit boat. The boat already has their stiff back band which has worked well when using just a thin cushion on the bottom of the boat.
It's a bit hard to tell from the pic, but the back band and the hip braces, which are part of the seat, don't marry well. Something will have to be trimmed, and I am not as yet clear what that will be. It is a bit cold in the garage, so I am not enthused about working out there (especially if I have to wear gloves...but I digress). Then again, it may be as simple as moving the seat forward an inch or so. I shall see as soon as the weather warms up.

I went though a lot of work to get a good seat installed in my Tern, as well. The seat that came with the kit made my feet fall asleep (although I'm glad I've got that pad to keep my bum warm in the skinboat in icy waters). I tried CLC's happy bottom seat, too, but that didn't work any better. I ended up getting a plastic seat cut out of an old Necky boat from the local dealer, and that's worked well - I guess I just need a hard plastic seat rather than a soft foam one. I also replaced the seat back with a Bomber Gear back band to let me lay back a little more. I love the fit now, but it took a lot of work for me to able to sit in it for more than twenty minutes at a time.
Thanks for the good info Joshua. I know what to do if this one doesn't work out.
